This calf and his mother spent most of the 1999 season
between Young Bay and North Pass.
On this ocassion, we were just about to leave the placid
cow and calf pair when they separated and the calf
erupted from the water in a full breach off our bow.
We stayed as long as we could, but eventually left him
there in Young Bay, still breaching in the sunshine.
Admiralty Island is in the background.
